July 1998 I found I was having problems lifting my left leg off the 2 wheeler when coming to a stop. It turned out to be Sciatica. It occurs when there is damage to the sciatic nerve, located in the back of the leg. This nerve controls the muscles of the back of the knee and lower leg and provides sensation to the back of the thigh, part of the lower leg and the sole of the foot. Incomplete damage to the sciatic nerve may appear identical to damage to one of the branches of the sciatic nerve. Not wanting to give up biking I decided to build a trike from a 1982 Gold Wing. (how I built my first trike) In 1998 there were not very many sites showing how people built their trikes. Nor could I find any books showing you how to built one. Today there are a lot more. (see links page) One thing I really like about trikes is that they are all different, unless you buy a factory made trike. There are many, many, different ways to build them and from what I can see you can build them out of most any vehicle on four wheels. This site isn't really about "how to build a trike" It's here to help you build yours. Within these pages you will find helpful information and links to aid you in your project. Building a trike can be related to building a dune buggy. Most of the parts used on dune buggys (VW's mostly) can be used on a trike. For those of you building V8's you can go to the speed shops on the web. If your going to build a VW based trike then you need the following books: "How to build a dune buggy by Earl Duty and "Baja bugs and buggies by Jeff Hibbard. Both of these and more can be found here by clicking on the button below. |
